Keoladeo National Park in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, is one of the world's finest bird sanctuaries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Formerly a royal duck hunting ground, this 29 sq km wetland is home to over 370 species of birds, including the critically endangered Siberian Crane. Our day trip is the perfect escape for birdwatchers, nature photographers, and wildlife enthusiasts.

Itinerary
DAY-WISE ITINERARY
Depart Delhi at 05:30 AM (or Agra at 07:00 AM) for Bharatpur (~4 hours). Arrive at Keoladeo National Park and meet your expert birding guide. Board traditional cycle-rickshaws (only vehicles permitted) for a gentle exploration of varied habitats. Spot painted storks, purple herons, sarus cranes, kingfishers, bee-eaters, and rollers. October–February: watch for rare Siberian Cranes. Enjoy a packed lunch at a rest point. Continue for afternoon birding — birds of prey, owls, and warblers. Exit park ~04:00 PM. Depart for Delhi ~04:30 PM, arriving ~09:00 PM.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

October to February is prime birding season with migratory birds from Central Asia and Siberia. Siberian Crane is present November–February only.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Silence and slow movement are essential inside the park.
  • Motor vehicles are not permitted — cycle rickshaws only.
  • The park opens at sunrise; early arrival gives best birding.
  • Over 370 species recorded; a single visit typically yields 60–120 species.
  • Bharatpur also has the historic Lohagarh Fort, which can be visited in the late afternoon.
